A Junior League of Toledo fund raiser Junior League of Toledo hosted the annual Chocolate Soiree on January 22, 2011 at The Crown Plaza Hotel. The Chocolate Soiree is a cocktail party showcasing and judging chocolate desserts from various local restaurants and stores while also providing vital financial support for the League's leadership training programming for women. The Chocolate Soiree generates the needed funding for the Junior League of Toledo to carry out its mission of creating lasting community impact. Current community service projects focus on health and wellness issues and include: Kids in the Kitchen: addressing the issue of childhood obesity through better eating habits and exercise Bittersweetfarms: provide adults with autism rewarding responsibilites and compensation. Sunshine Children's Home: provide relief to caregivers of families with a child who has developmental disabilities through a pilot project that offers a social opportunity for children with disabilities at Sunshine Children's Home. It also raises awareness about the need and importance of daytime respite care for families with children with a disability, through local media community panels, public service announcements and membership activism.
Junior League of Toledo, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable focusing on projects concerning health and wellness.
